Swiss Arbitration Centre: Mediator Nomination Service for Ad Hoc Mediations
The Swiss Arbitration Centre announces the launch of a Mediator Nomination Service to assist parties in identifying qualified, impartial and independent mediators for ad hoc mediations.
As mediation continues to gain prominence as an efficient and flexible dispute resolution mechanism, parties increasingly seek reliable assistance in selecting suitable mediators. The new service offers a straightforward and efficient nomination process while preserving the flexibility of ad hoc mediation. Parties may submit an online request describing the dispute and the desired qualifications of the mediator. Based on this information, the Swiss Arbitration Centre conducts a conflict check and proposes either a single mediator or a list of three qualified candidates, from which the parties may jointly select a mediator. The service enables parties to draw on the Centre’s expertise, experience and international network in identifying suitable mediators without initiating institutional mediation proceedings.
The Mediator Nomination Service for ad hoc mediations is not subject to the Swiss Rules of Mediation, and the fee for the nomination of a single mediator is CHF 350, and CHF 500 for a list of three mediators.
With this new service, the Swiss Arbitration Centre further reinforces its commitment to providing flexible, efficient and high-quality dispute resolution services to users worldwide.
“The Mediator Nomination Service provides parties with a simple and reliable mechanism to identify qualified mediators while preserving the flexibility of ad hoc mediation” says Corina Bölsterli, President of the Advisory Council for Mediation, who was instrumental in creating and implementing the service.
Korinna von Trotha, Executive Director of the Swiss Arbitration Centre, comments that “this new service offers parties the most essential support needed to successfully mediate: the selection of a mediator. Straightforward, swift and cost-effective. This service is introduced in a timely manner as the demand for mediation of commercial disputes is increasing.”
