82nd Biennial International Law Conference
The Swiss Arbitration Association is proud to support the 82nd Biennial International Law Conference of the International Law Association (ILA), taking place in Vienna from 17–21 August 2026.
Hosted by the Austrian Branch of the ILA and organised by the University of Vienna, the conference will bring together leading academics, practitioners, government representatives and international organisations from around the world to discuss the evolving contours of international law.
Under the theme “Contours of International Law: Encounters and Evolutions”, the programme explores some of the most pressing challenges facing the international legal order, including the resilience of international norms, the use of force, territorial integrity, climate change, artificial intelligence and global health.
Over five days, participants will engage in plenary discussions, committee and study group sessions, and panels addressing contemporary developments across public international law. Topics include investment treaty interpretation, indigenous rights, rights of nature, space law, international taxation, migration and many other emerging issues shaping international legal practice today.
