Webinar. 11 February 2021. 1pm CET.
Hot topics of 2020 and 2021 include vaccines development, testing, regulatory approval, manufacturing, distribution and administration. The Swiss Chambers’ Arbitration Institution (SCAI) and the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot ("Vis Moot Court") have prepared a case where students, their coaches, volunteer moot arbitrators and any other practitioners will gain or further develop an understanding of the pharma and life sciences industry and arbitration, in particular with respect to joinders of parties and remote hearings.
SCAI is hosting a series of webinars related to the 28th Vis Moot Court. The 1st webinar, on 11 February 2021, addresses key issues faced by parties, counsel and arbitrators in deciding to file, object to or reject a joinder request. At the 2nd webinar, scheduled for 18 February 2021, a panel of experienced speakers, including from the pharma and life sciences industry, will discuss the various disputes that may arise during research, development, regulatory approval, manufacturing, commercialization and worldwide distribution. They will explore the extent to which arbitration is a suitable means to resolve such disputes, what challenges they face and how these issues may be anticipated in contract drafting. The 3rd webinar of this series, mid-March, will serve to present the Swiss Chambers' Arbitration Institution and its arbitration and mediation rules (the Swiss Rules).
Speakers of this Webinar on joinders will include:
Michele Potesta, Counsel at Lévy-Kaufmann-Kohler, Geneva, Switzerland
Dharshini Prasad, Senior associate at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, London, UK
Dorothee Schramm, Partner at SIDLEY AUSTIN LLP, Geneva, Switzerland
The succinct presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
Further details and the invitation will be available soon.
